SCOM Product evaluation is expiring in 60 days

I recently got this message after running SCOM 2012 for an extended period of time.

Product evaluation is expiring in 60 days

I also got this message at the same time.

Product evaluation is expiring in less than 24 hours

So how do I fix this?  Microsoft has a great support blog post here.

  1. Select Start –> All Programs –> Microsoft System Center 2012 –> Operations Manager Shell (Run As Administrator)
  2. image
  3. Use Set-SCOMLicense -ProductId "yourlicensekey“
  4. image
  5. To check if changes were executed run Get-SCOMManagementGroup | ft skuforlicense, version, timeofexpiration –a
Note: This may require a reboot after running in order to register correctly.

SCOM Alert: Web Management service is stopped

The Web Management service is stopped. This will prevent remote administration of the web server.

I tried running the associated task

It returned a success but the alert didn’t close.

When I take another look at the task output I realized that the service doesn’t even exist.  It appears that if IIS is installed it the IIS MP assumes that the Web Management Services is installed.

So I just create an override to disable the monitor.  I store the override in my IIS – Customizations Management Pack

ExchangeRequiredHotfixesNotInstalled with SCOM 2012

There is a bug in the current version ( of the Exchange 2012 SCOM Management Pack with when using SCOM 2012

You may get an error like this Operations Manager failed to start a process

The process started at 2:03:25 PM failed to create System.PropertyBagData. Errors found in output:

C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 19\1725\HotFixValidation.vbs(117, 10) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Subscript out of range: ‘count’

Command executed: "C:\Windows\system32\cscript.exe" /nologo "HotFixValidation.vbs"

Working Directory: C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 19\1725\

One or more workflows were affected by this.
Workflow name: ExchangeRequiredHotfixesNotInstalled
Instance name:
Instance ID: {A22EB582-0426-DDC4-8C78-EEB5EBDBFA42}
Management group: AMTMTECH

The reason is that the script tries to check for a particular Cumulative Update on SCOM 2007.  The script doesn’t account for the version of SCOM 2012

So fix this we just need to disable the rule that does the check.

So I grab the workflow name from the error

Workflow name: ExchangeRequiredHotfixesNotInstalled

Being this is the Exchange MP we want to disable the monitor not the rule. So I do a search for the monitor.

Now I create an override to disable it [For All Object of Class: Agent.  I store the override in my Exchange Customizations MP.

Now I close the rule an make sure it doesn’t come back.

Cannot manage Active Directory Certificate Services in Server 2012 Error 0x800070002

I ran into this issue when trying to install Active Directory Certificate Services on Windows Server 2012

I thought it might be related that I only installed the Certification Authority and the Certification Authority Web Enrollment.  So I went back and installed the web services as well.

But I still got the same 0x800070002 error.

I check out the Event Logs  but didn’t find anything.  So I check out the Server Manager > Dashboard.

I looked under AD CS (Active Directory Certificate Services) and I found this.

So I clicked the More link at the top and I get this dialog box.

I click Configure Active Directory Action and follow the Wizard

I click to configure the two Certification Authority and Certification Authority Web Enrollment

I click Next

I pick Enterprise CA but you could choose Standalone CA if that is what you wanted.

I walk thought the rest of the Wizard Next, Next, Finish!

Now when I use Launch the Certification Authority I works!
